Mitsis Rodos Village Resort, Rhodes Committed to the sea

The Mitsis Rodos Village Resort on the southern side of the Greek island of Rhodes is a gem for luxury travellers. With its design, which combines Greek craftsmanship and Danish minimalism, it stands out aesthetically – and sets a clear focus.

All eyes on the sea. The orientation of the Mitsis Rodos Village Resort on the southern coast of Rhodes is unmistakable. This is clear as soon as you enter the lobby, which has been carefully designed with a night bar on one side and a day bar on the other, as well as intimate niches and seating areas in the centre of the action. The glass-fronted lounge offers views of the outdoor pool and gardens, and then, of course, the sea and the distant horizon.

Beautifully woven into Rhodes' landscape: Mitsis Rodos Village Resort is a gem.

Greek and danish designs

The aim is for guests to feel they are in a Greek atmosphere. The striking ceiling element made of woven bronze-coloured stainless steel, which is a reference to Greek craftsmanship, contributes to this. It also holds the rooms together and directs the view towards the sea. The lobby floor's patchwork of pebbles, which also has a classic Greek look, reflects the ceiling construction.

The Greek elements may be playful, but the furniture is clear and simple. It is more reminiscent of Danish design and is used to create a deliberate contrast. But not in every respect: here and there, splashes of colour are added to the upholstery to contrast with the overall palette of light wood and natural stone.

Geberit concealed cisterns for creative freedom

Behind the high-quality design is the London-based MKV Design architecture firm, which was founded by Greek-born Maria Katsarou Vafiadis. The architects deliberately chose Geberit Sigma concealed cisterns for their bathrooms because they offer creative freedom. This allowed the architecture firm to implement its mixture of simple lines from the Danish school and playful elements such as mirroring with its free form in the bathroom as well.
